Irwin Linker (Link) has been training and showing Siberian Huskies for over 40 years. During that time Link and his dogs have earned over 140 titles in AKC, CKC (Canada), CDSP and USDAA, and many of his Siberians have been nationally ranked in the various dog sports and venues in which they have competed.
His first Siberian, Kodi, became only the 3rd NJ-bred Siberian to earn a UD when he did that at age 8 in 1992. By then Link had his first Conformation Siberian, Jasper, who earned his CDX and was a Top 25 ranked Conformation Siberian for 8 years, including an Award of Merit at the Siberian Husky Club of America (SHCA) National Specialty and First Award of Merit at Westminster. Jasper was also Link’s first Agility dog, earning his OA and OAJ. His first three Siberians all earned Canadian CDs and Jasper earned his Canadian Championship in one weekend.
Next came Frankie, the first Siberian Husky with 20+ AKC titles and the 4th NJ-bred Siberian with a UD. Frankie was nationally ranked in Obedience (Utility), Agility, Rally and Conformation. At age 10 ½ Frankie was Best of Opposite Sex in a class of over 200 Siberians at the 2008 SHCA National Specialty. Also at that same 2008 Specialty, Frankie won Excellent B JWW (now Masters JWW), Utility B and was a Top 20 Competitor. Frankie was Link’s Heart Dog.
Currently, Link is training and competing in Obedience with two Siberians – Casey and Karma. Casey has his CDSP UD-C and he is going for his AKC UD. Casey was a Top 10 Conformation Siberian for seven years, starting with his puppy year and retired from Conformation as a Silver Grand Champion. I started in obedience in 1976 with an Irish Setter, earning a Utility title on him. After watching the English, Gordon and Irish Setters in the show ring, we purchased a Gordon Setter and I began Conformation showing. Over the many years, I've shown my own Setters, mostly from the Bred By class obtaining multiple BOBs, Specialty BOBs and Group placements. Also winning multiple Owner handler RBIS and BIS. Winning BOB at the Irish Setter Club of America National Specialty in 2017 was definitely the highlight of my show career. My wife, Deb and I do our own grooming and conditioning. I have shown other Sporting breeds as well as dogs from the Hound, Herding and Terrier Groups. I enjoy paying forward what I have learned over the years to help others be successful.
